Silentwoods Collective
Making inspiring live music experiences commonplace.
About Us

Silentwoods Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to create and fund live music experiences wherever they are lacking, in order to inspire creativity, hope and human connection in every community.

We believe music is a force for good that belongs to everyone everywhere. It has the power to change lives, inspire hope, and connect us more deeply to our communities. Silentwoods Collective exists to create opportunities for professional musicians to share the power of music in places it is lacking or needed most. From rural to urban, whether in senior centers, cafes, hospitals, or schools, our programs work to bring exceptional performances into everyday life, to bring people together and build community and hope through music.

18 years ago when founder Andrew Koutroubas was introduced to the cello at age 12, music changed his life. His passion for music engendered a desire to explore, create, and share its transformative power with others. As he pursued an education first at Longy School of Music and later at the Juilliard School, he began dreaming of giving back and bringing more music to more people. Surrounded by talented musicians with similar desires, Silentwoods Collective was born of a group of musicians with a drive to bring the inspiring and healing power of music to places lacking it. Issues that are important to us and which guide our efforts include lack of funding for the arts in schools, scarcity of cultural offerings in rural communities, music's healing power in healthcare and aging, and scarcity of opportunities for professional musicians. Since our unofficial inception in 2018, Silentwoods Collective has organized 11 performances in a variety of settings from Pine Hill and High Mowing elementary and high schools, and the Root Cafe in New Hampshire, The Scandinavian Senior Living Center in Boston, MA, Good Shepherd Church and the Actor’s Chapel in New York City.
We want to continue putting on performances and to do so, we’re asking for your help.
