Concerto Napoletano: Music for Change

Come and experience the fiery passions of 18th century Naples, Italy, through the music of Pergolesi, Stradella, Porpora and more! After surviving 200 years of Spanish rule, deadly plague, violent revolution, and even an eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the music of Naples was colored by love, death, struggle, scientific discovery and a unique union of cultures. Whether in the autumnal sinfonias of Alessandro Scarlatti, the explosive arias of Nicola Porpora, or the Spanish dances of Andrea Falconiere, the passions of Italy shine through in this exciting and heartfelt program. Dazzling soprano and arts activist Shelén Hughes, along with flute virtuoso Eva Skanse, join the musicians of Concerto Napoletano, performing on original baroque instruments, for a performance you won’t want to miss!
